GCSE Theory

WJEC GCSE revision app

The questions you get wrong come back until you know them.

GCSE Theory gives you one question per screen. Answer it, say how sure you are, then swipe up for the next. Every card is matched to the WJEC specification, so you only revise what's on the exam.

  • Computer Science, Unit 1
  • Digital Technology, Unit 1

Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

1.2.1 Computer Science: Data representation

What is the largest denary number an 8-bit unsigned binary number can hold?

Every card sits in one of 5 boxes

Get a card right and it moves up a box, so you see it less often. Get it wrong and it goes back to box 1, so you see it again tomorrow. Your time goes on the things you don't know yet.

  1. Box 1Tomorrow
  2. Box 2In 3 days
  3. Box 3In 7 days
  4. Box 4In 14 days
  5. Box 5In 30 days

How sure are you?

Before the answer shows, you say whether you were guessing, fairly sure or certain. A lucky guess doesn't move the card up, because you didn't really know it.

Certain, but wrong

That's a misconception, and it's worth fixing before the exam. The card comes back about 5 cards later, in the same session.

Time for a break

After about 20 cards the app suggests a break. Short sessions stick better than long ones, and your progress is saved.

What it looks like

Screenshots from the iPhone app. The Android app has the same cards and works the same way.

  • The first screen of the app, with a sample card and buttons for Cymraeg and English.

Choose Cymraeg or English and you're straight into the questions.

  • A multiple choice card about the CPU, with one answer chosen and the question How sure are you? below it.

Pick an answer, then say how sure you are.

  • The result of the card, showing the right answer, an explanation and the card going back to box 1.

The right answer, why it's right, and when you'll see the card again.

  • The break card after 20 cards, offering Done for now or Keep going.

A break after about 20 cards, with how many you got right.

What you can count on

  • No adverts, no tracking
